NASHVILLE, TN — On Wednesday, Huntsville City FC midfielder Alan Carleton signed with Sandvikens IF in the Swedish second division. The 20-year-old led Huntsville with 12 goals and six assists last season, earning a spot in the MLS NEXT Pro Best XI and making two appearances with Nashville SC in MLS play.

Carleton signs with Sandvikens on a three-year deal, keeping him under contract through the 2029 season.

"I am very happy that everything is ready and I am ready to come over to meet the team and step onto the pitch," Carleton said in the announcement. "I chose Sandvikens IF because it has always been my dream to play in Europe, and I think it is a fantastic place to start my career abroad. Sandviken seems to be a technically skilled team with a very entertaining playing style."

Huntsville City FC had picked up Carleton's option for the 2026 season, one of just six players to be retained in the offseason. Nashville SC were also interested in signing Carleton to a first-team deal, although the expected incoming players expected across the frontline would have increased competition for minutes.
