ANTIOCH, TN – Eddi Tagseth didn't mince words when asked about his hopes for Nashville SC's 2026 season.

"We're a bit disappointed in how we ended the season with the playoffs and maybe the last end of the year," said the midfielder, reflecting back on Nashville's Round One playoff exit to Inter Miami. "So yeah, I think maybe end the season better. I think it will make a big difference."

Nashville's 2025 campaign was overall a success. They lifted the US Open Cup, the first trophy in their history – and the first championship ever won by a Tennessee professional sports team. That victory has only increased their hunger for more, says Tagseth.

"We're not in Open Cup this year, so we have another competition to win," he said. "We're looking to do well in all competitions, but I think we want to build on what we did good last year."

Tagseth instantly became a fixture in Nashville's lineup in his first season. The 24-year-old started 35 of Nashville's 42 matches in all competitions, cementing his place as a core piece of Nashville's squad. He's also settled in off the pitch, fully adjusted to life in Music City.

"I'm a lot more comfortable. I don't have to go Google Maps everywhere I go," he laughed. "I know where my Target is, my Walmart, all that kind of stuff. And then obviously in the club I'm more comfortable.

"But this year for sure I'm more comfortable even. I think already there is going to be more competition in the midfield. I think we have a young, strong, talented midfield group this year. Also last year was extremely challenging, great players. So that's how it should be. If you want to grow as a footballer, grow as a squad, you want challenge in your position."

As far as goals for the season? Tagseth says he wants to contribute more on the attacking side.

"I want to contribute more both ways. I think the team and the fans could see last year what I'm about, but I know inside myself that I can do even more, so just looking to improve everything.

"I want to score a goal. one at least!"
