Nashville SC sign Huntsville City defender Jordan Knight

NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville SC have made a late addition to their roster, signing defender Jordan Knight to an MLS contract through 2026, with club options for 2027 and 2028. The Ontario, Canada, native will require an international roster slot.

Knight, 23, has been a standout for Huntsville this season. Since returning from injury earlier in the year, Knight has logged five goals in 15 matches. Capable of playing as a left back, right back, or in a more advanced role on either wing, the former Columbus Crew 2 player has been one of the standouts in MLS NEXT Pro.

Huntsville City FC acquire forward Jordan Knight
NASHVILLE, TN – Huntsville City FC announced today that they have acquired forward Jordan Knight via a trade with Columbus Crew 2. Knight, 21, has played 42 matches with Columbus since his debut in 2022. A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Knight is a versatile player. Typically deployed as a left wingback,

Knight has been involved with Nashville before. He played 32 minutes for the Coyotes in their friendly match against Aston Villa, impressing off the bench. Knight also appeared for Nashville last summer in the Leagues Cup, coming off the bench in their matches against Mazatlán and New England Revolution.

“Jordan is an outstanding athlete who is versatile enough to play both as an outside back and as a winger and on the right or the left,” said Nashville SC President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Mike Jacobs in the club's statement. “He has done a great job playing with Huntsville City FC and training and playing on short-term contracts with the First Team, and performances like the one in our exhibition match versus Aston Villa FC demonstrate his ability to perform at a high level. He has earned the opportunity to move up to the First Team, and we are so excited about his next steps as he progresses through our pro player pathway.”

With Dan Lovitz working his way back to full fitness, and Julian Gaines missing the bulk of the season, Knight provides needed depth at either fullback spot in a more attacking role. He's also capable of getting forward and stretching the field, giving Nashville a different look in attack.

The MLS roster freeze is tomorrow, September 12.
