Schmitt struggled to find many minutes with Nashville SC despite being one of two left backs in the squad. Players like Josh Bauer and even Wyatt Meyer were ahead of him in the pecking order.
Schmitt was perhaps a good veteran presence in the locker room, but he had no impact on the pitch. As a backup, he was expected to play a bit more and even challenge Dan Lovitz for the starting position. Safe to say that didn't happen in 2025.
