With domestic leagues around the world set to pause next week for the FIFA international break, eight players from the Nashville SC organization have been called up to represent their countries.

Chris Applewhite

Playing in his first professional season, 18-year-old center back Chris Applewhite has impressed in limited minutes with Nashville, making eight appearances in all competitions and not looking out of place.

He'll get his first taste of action with the US youth national team, called up to the U19 Identity Camp from September 1-8 in Fayetteville, Georgia. These camps are a part of the new "U.S. Way" philosophy from US soccer, designed to give young players increased opportunities to advance through the national team player pathways.

Matt Corcoran

Matt Corcoran has started every match for Rhode Island FC since joining the USL Championship outfit on loan, and the extra playing time has earned him a spot in the USMNT U20 training camp roster.

With the U20 World Cup kicking off at the end of September, it's an encouraging sign for Corcoran's involvement in the tournament.

Liam Devan

Like Applewhite, Liam Devan will train in Fayetteville, GA, with the US U17s in their Identity Camp. The defender, who just turned 16 last month, was named to the MLS NEXT All-Star team this summer and is one of the top prospects in the academy.

Real Gill (Huntsville City)

Trinidad & Tobago 🇹🇹

Huntsville City winger Real Gill has only scored one goal in 11 appearances with the Rocket Men, but continues to be a consistent call up for Trinidad & Tobago. He has 15 caps with the Soca Warriors and played in two of their three Concacaf Gold Cup matches. He'll look to make an impact during their World Cup qualifiers against Curaçao (September 5) and Jamaica (September 9).

Honduras 🇭🇳

Andy Nájar has been not just one of the best players for Nashville this season, but among the best in all of MLS. The 31-year-old right back has 10 assists, the second-most by any defender.

For Honduras, he's been a crucial part of the squad for a decade, earning 59 caps and often wearing the captain's armband. He'll play an important role for Los Catrachos in their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Hait (September 5) and Nicaragua (September 9) as they look to book a spot in next summer's tournament.

Jacob Shaffelburg

Canada 🇨🇦

Jacob Shaffelburg's Gold Cup didn't end the way he wanted it to. The 25-year-old picked up two yellow cards in a five-minute span and got sent off before halftime in Canada's shocking loss to Guatemala, sending the Canucks crashing out in the quarterfinals.

With six goals in 27 caps, Shaffelburg has turned into a key contributor for Canada, and even has a more important role for his country than his club. With Canada set to co-host the 2026 World Cup, it's important for him to put in consistent performances in their friendlies in Romania (September 5) and Wales (September 9) to try and earn a spot on the roster next summer.

Xavier Valdez

Dominican Republic 🇩🇴

Xavier Valdez may be the third-string goalkeeper for Nashville, but he's the starter for the Dominican Republic, and impressed during their Gold Cup campaign. He's already been capped 17 times, and will look to continue building momentum during their September 9 friendly against Jordan.

Patrick Yazbek

Australia 🇦🇺

The 23-year-old midfielder has been a crucial player for Nashville SC this season, and he's becoming more of a regular for Australia. Patrick Yazbek has made four caps for the Socceroos, and will get a chance to add to his tally when they take on New Zealand in a pair of friendlies (September 5 and 9).
