NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville SC announced on Tuesday that midfielder Matthew Corcoran has been recalled from his loan spell with Rhode Island FC.

Nashville SC loan Matthew Corcoran to Rhode Island FC
Nashville can recall the 19-year-old midfielder at any time from the USL Championship

In just over a month with Rhode Island, Corcoran started all five matches, playing 400 minutes in all competitions. The move was always viewed as a short-term option for Corcoran, giving him regular minutes in order to have the best chance of earning a spot with the United States U20 team for the upcoming U20 World Cup.

Corcoran was called up to the USMNT U20 pre-World Cup camp this past week, and scored in an impressive 4-1 win over Morocco. With the World Cup set to begin on September 27, Corcoran looks set to be a part of the final squad.

Corcoran arrives back in Nashville ahead of a crucial week. The Coyotes will travel to FC Cincinnati on Saturday, September 13, and play in Orlando the following weekend. The pair of matches will have significant implications on Nashville's position in the final table, with both opponents fighting for a spot in the Eastern Conference's Top 4. In between the Supporters' Shield clashes is a US Open Cup semifinal match against the Philadelphia Union, with a trip to the final and the chance to win the first trophy in club history on the line.

Corcoran will be eligible to play on Saturday when Nashville take on FC Cincinnati at 6:30 pm CT.
