NASHVILLE, TN – On Monday, Nashville SC announced the sale of winger Jonathan Pérez to Chivas Guadalajara in Mexico's Liga MX. Sources have confirmed to SixOneFive Soccer that the transfer fee is $3 million. Nashville will retain a sell-on percentage if Pérez is transferred in the future.

Pérez, 23, joined Nashville on loan from the LA Galaxy in the summer of 2024, and was acquired permanently in a cash transfer worth $1.5 million in August 2025 (with an additional $300,000 of performance-based incentives). Pérez signed a U22 Initiative contract through 2028 with an option for 2029, and the Galaxy retained a sell-on percentage if Pérez was transferred outside MLS.

“Jonny is an outstanding young man, and we wish him the very best of luck in this new opportunity,” said Nashville SC President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Mike Jacobs. “Developing young talent as well as selling players on are both important for our evolution as a club and the trademark of any successful club around the world, and this is an important step that helps demonstrate Nashville SC’s ambition on a global stage.”

Representing Mexico at the youth international levels, Pérez is a lifelong Chivas fan and wanted to make the move.

In 32 matches in all competitions for Nashville, Pérez logged two goals and three assists. He made 13 starts for the club in 2025, in which he was the most dynamic winger for long stretches of the season. While set to play a key role for Nashville in 2026, the signing of winger Cristian Espinoza was set to give his playing time a hit, leaving him to compete with Alex Muyl and Ahmed Qasem for minutes.

The move is Nashville's first sale directly outside of MLS, with the $3 million transfer fee doubling what they paid to acquire him from the Galaxy back in August.

Per MLS rules, Nashville can convert up to 95% of the transfer fee into General Allocation Money (GAM) after recouping acquisition costs. Estimating the Galaxy's sell-on percentage at 20%, this would allow Nashville to add roughly $855,000 in GAM to their books, adding significant flexibility to their roster.

The move also opens a U22 Initiative spot for Nashville. Like Designated Players, transfer fees for U22 Initiative players are not counted towards their budget charge, allowing clubs to spend significant fees to acquire players who would otherwise be unattainable.

The MLS Primary Transfer Window is open through Monday, March 2.
