The United States finished on top of their group in the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup after winning all three matches, including a 2-1 win over Haiti on Sunday night. We're breaking down the individual performances from the match

Matt Freese - 4.5
The New York City FC goalkeeper gave up a howler in the first half, gifting Haiti their goal with a mis-hit and ill-advised pass out of the back. He simply has to do better there. There's no excuses for a gaffe like that at the international level.
Otherwise, Freese was good with his feet and composed when called on. He shouldn't lose his starting spot for a single mistake.

John Tolkin - 7.0
It was a mixed bag for John Tolkin. He lost possession several times with poor touches, but he got into good spots down the left flank and his set piece delivery was dangerous. He also was much more sound defensively than Max Arfsten had been in the tournament so far, giving Mauricio Pochettino a different option against the better teams the US will face. His assist to Patrick Agyemang was gorgeous.

Tim Ream - 7.0
The former Fulham stalwart's had a few loose touches that lost possession needlessly, but as a whole his distribution was consistent. His ability to break lines from a deep position is crucial to this team, and the blame he got for the pass to Matt Freese was hilariously misplaced.
There's no one in the pool really threatening him for a starting spot.

Chris Richards - 8.0
Chris Richards was once again incredibly strong defensively, more than matching the physical Haitian frontline and showing off his pace. His distribution, though, was the standout from his game, showing an impressive passing range to catalyze the US on the ball.

Alex Freeman - 7.5
The young Orlando City defender was allowed to get forward a bit more than in the previous matches, but still showed impressive tactical flexibility and discipline, especially for a 20-year-old in his first senior season, and mixed in a few key tackles as well. He's having a fantastic tournament.

Luca de la Torre - 7.0
The San Diego FC midfielder is never really eye-catching, but he does the little things so well and is always reliable in his ability to receive a pass under pressure. He's been so important to keeping the metronome ticking.

Tyler Adams -7.0
After picking up a yellow card for a crunching tackle inside 30 seconds, Tyler Adams looked like his usual self for the rest of the match. He got all over the pitch and was constantly involved, and his ability to distribute the ball was a noticeable step up.

Brenden Aaronson - 6.5
The elder Aaronson brother wasn't always clean on the ball, but his pure energy was sometimes enough to make up for it. For example, on Tillman's opening goal he nearly lost possession twice but was able to win it back through sheer effort, eventually curling in a gorgeous cross. He sometimes shows flashes of quality, but his inconsistencies make it hard to know what to expect.

Malik Tillman - 8.5
The PSV man took his goal incredibly well, heading a ball back across goal to give the 'keeper no chance. He could have had a hat-trick, with one goal called back (rightly) for offside and another pulled back (harshly) for a handball, although he knew nothing of it as the defender cleared the ball off him from point-blank range.
He came close to a golazo, bringing a ball down incredibly before chipping just wide of the post, and he got himself involved plenty of times on the defensive side of things. He's making a case for a bigger role with the full squad.

Quinn Sullivan - 7.5
It was a generally positive performance from the Philadelphia Union midfielder. He's relentless on and off the ball, and his willingness to drive at defenders with pace was a welcomed change for the US. He nearly scored a fantastic debut goal, put in a few juicy crosses, and pulled off a rabona cross just for funzies. A showing that warranted more minutes.

Patrick Agyemang - 7.5
Does Patrick Agyemang sometimes make the wrong decisions or kill off attacks with sloppy touches in the final third. Yeah. But is he also a physical nightmare for opposing defenders while opening up plenty of space in the final third? Also yeah.
Look, Agyemang clearly isn't the most technical player out there, and he's still a work in progress. But he also keeps finding ways to be effective for this team. After almost 80 minutes of frustrating play, he scored the winner with a great run and finish, making this yet another match for him that's tough to really analyze.

Substitutes
Jack McGlynn - 6.0
On for the final 20 minutes, the Houston Dynamo midfielder had a few nice passes but didn't stand out one way or the other.
Diego Luna - 6.0
Like McGlynn, Diego Luna didn't get heavily involved after coming on at the 70th minute, but did try to take on a few defenders 1v1.
Johnny Cardoso - N/A
On for the final few minutes to close out the game.
Brian White - N/A
The Vancouver Whitecaps striker came on late. He had one chance to get in on goal after a great ball in behind, but wasn't even able to maintain possession.
Paxten Aaronson - N/A
A two-minute cameo from the younger Aaronson, and he almost managed to score a wild chipped goal from long range.
Manager
Mauricio Pochettino - 7.0
Once again, it was nothing special from the US under Pochettino, but they're looking more comfortable with how he wants his team to play. At the end of the day, three wins is three wins.
