Recap: Nashville SC and FC Dallas settle for a point

The Boys in Gold hang on to a point against FC Dallas, despite playing with 10 men

Nashville SC were unable to extend their winning streak after a nil-nil stalemate in Dallas. Both teams had chances, but good defensive work and goalkeeping denied them.

The vibe check (TL;DR)

  • What happened: Nashville SC drew FC Dallas 0-0 in their first MLS away trip of 2026.
  • What we learned: Nashville SC struggled without Sam Surridge, both with and without the ball. With the new 4-3-3 shape, the Boys in Gold looked less dynamic and struggled to create many chances.
  • Big picture: All things considered, this isn't a bad result away from home, especially considering the red car. However, if Nashville are a true title contender, they need to win games like these.

Highlights

Key moments

  • 44' | Brian Schwake comes up with a huge save from a Petar Musa shot
  • 75' | On the edge of the box, Hany Mukhtar plays Cristian Espinoza to his right. The Argentine goes for the goal, but his shot is wide.
  • 84' | Matt Corcoran is late in his slide tackle, misses the ball and takes down Kaick. He's shown a second yellow card and sent off.
  • 90' | Schwake goes low this time for another big save

Standout performers

  • Brian Schwake had two big saves to ensure Nashville came out of Dallas with a point. He was also calm on the ball and distributed it well.
  • Maxwell Woledzi seems to be getting more comfortable in Nashville. He was attentive when called upon and helped keep the game goalless.

Lineup notes

Forward Sam Surridge was a notable absence from the matchday lineup. After earning a spot in the MLS Team of the Matchday last week, the striker missed out due to illness.

In his absence, head coach BJ Callaghan switched to a midfield three, giving Matt Corcoran his first MLS start of the season against his former club.

What it means

Nashville still look the best when in the 4-2-2-2 system; they have yet to thrive in any other shape. That said, tonight might not have been the best for assessment, considering they were missing Surridge. Regardless, it's only the second game of the season and a draw away from home is not necessarily a bad result.

Up next

Nashville return home next weekend, taking on a Minnesota United side who are coming off of a 1-0 win over FC Cincinnati.
