NASHVILLE, TN – On Sunday, Tennessee Tempo will continue their 2027 US Open Cup campaign. The Murfreesboro-based club are in the third round of qualification for the 2027 tournament, and will face off against fellow UPSL side Columbus Astray in an attempt to be one of the 32 Open Division teams to qualify for the tournament proper.
Tempo have been dominant so far in qualifying, beating Tennessee United SC 6-0 in the first round of qualifying, and taking down Louisville-based Mockingbird Valley Premier in the second round.
After winning the UPSL KY-TN 2026 spring conference title, Tempo's push for a second-consecutive UPSL Spring Championship came to an end in the Round of 16, falling 4-0 to SCU Heat.
Columbus Astray have struggled to start their fall season. Out of eight matches, they've won just three, losing four times and being outscored 18-14. That's a sharp contrast to Tempo's dominant form so far. Through six matches, they've won four, drawn one, and lost one, outscoring their opponents 22-4.
Led by holding midfielder Dominic Oduro, center back Moussa Gueye, and creative midfielder Emiliano Rodriguez, Tempo are hoping their strong league form will carry over into Sunday's match.
Tempo's Open Cup qualifier against Columbus kicks off at the Richard Seigel Soccer Complex on Sunday, November 1, at 2 pm CT. Tickets can be purchased here.
