Applewhite was the third homegrown player signed to Nashville SC's roster, and the first to start a match. At 17 years, seven months and 27 days old on his Nashville debut, Applewhite is the youngest player to have ever appeared for the Boys in Gold.
Injuries have limited his time for Nashville this season, with more competition at the centerback spot pushing him down the pecking order. He has yet to make an appearance for the first team this season, but remains a highly-rated player within the club, viewed as a potential starter for Nashville in the next few seasons.
The United States will begin their Concacaf U20 Championship campaign on Saturday, July 25, against Haiti, rounding out their group with matches against El Salvador (July 28) and Cuba (July 31).
