NASHVILLE, TN – Another landmark soccer moment is coming to Music City this summer. On Saturday, July 25, Nashville's Geodis Park will host an exhibition match between English clubs Liverpool and Sunderland, part of the TEG Sports' 2026 Summer Soccer Series.
Reigning champions of the English Premier League, Liverpool FC are one of the most historic and popular clubs in global football. Founded in 1892, the Merseyside club has won 20 English championships, eight FA Cups, six UEFA Champions Leagues and one Club World Cup.
Featuring global superstars like Mohammed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Alexander Isak, Liverpool are a global powerhouse, ranked as the fourth-most valuable club around the world in Forbes's 2025 valuation and often sited as one of the most popular clubs among fans around the world. A 2025 survey from Sports Illustrated ranked them as the seventh-most followed club in the world, with 166.7 million followers across all social platforms.

While Sunderland AFC haven't had nearly the same level of success as Liverpool, they're among the oldest clubs in the world. Founded in 1879, they returned to the Premier League in the 2025-26 season after an eight-year absence that saw them relegated to League One, the third tier of the English football pyramid.
They've been one of the surprises of the season so far, currently sitting in 11th place in the Premier League table after 29 matches, with captain and former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka leading them to surprise wins over Chelsea and Newcastle this season, as well as draws against Liverpool and Manchester City.
Nashville has hosted premier league sides in the past. A 2017 friendly between Manchester City and Tottenham drew 56,232 fans at Nissan Stadium, and was viewed as an important factor in the decision to award Nashville an MLS expansion team later that year.
More recently, Geodis Park hosted a Premier League side for the first time last season, when Nashville SC came from behind to draw Aston Villa 2-2 last summer.

Nashville SC season ticket holders will get first access to tickets starting on Tuesday, March 10, at 9 am CT. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, March 12 here.
