NASHVILLE, TN – Former Nashville SC defender Taylor Washington is hosting a 5v5 tournament in Nashville, and you could take part!
On Saturday, October 31, the first Nashville King of the Hill tournament will be held at the Nashville SC minipitch in Edgehill, with 16 teams going head-to-head to crown a winner. Instead of entry fees, teams will make a donation to a fundraiser for Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
What it's for
Beyond deciding the best 5-a-side team in Nashville, the tournament aims to raise $10,000 for Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital. Every player will donate at least $25, and fans are welcome to donate any amount.
Washington says the cause is personal for him. He met Dominic Eugene Liples, a young patient with Stage 4 brain cancer, in his rookie year, and the impact Liples had on him has stayed with him for more than a decade.

Where it is
The tournament will be played at the Nashville SC minipitch in Edghill, located at 1400 14th Ave S. Spectators are welcome and are encouraged to donate to the fundraiser.
How it works
16 teams will be split into four groups of four. Each team will play the other three teams in its group in a quick-hit group stage. The winners of each group will advance to the semifinals.
All group-stage matches will be eight minutes, while the semifinals and final will be 12 minutes.
What are the rules?
- Teams are comprised of four field players and a goalkeeper, with unlimited rolling subs.
- There is no offside. Throw-ins are replaced by kick-ins. All kick-ins are indirect.
- Goalkeepers restart play with a throw or roll only. No punts or goal kicks.
- A red card means the player is removed for the remainder of the match and will be suspended for the team's next game.
- Games go ahead in rain. Play will pause for at least 30 minutes after lightning.
- It's Halloween, so costumes and themed kits are encouraged, as long as they don't cover faces or hide team colors.
How to sign up
Registration opens here on Monday, October 5, at 7 pm CT.
Captains will register their team, with each player responsible for their $25 donation and filling out a waiver. Tournament registration is first come, first served. Players must be 18 years old to play.
