NASHVILLE, TN - On Thursday, Nashville SC and Major League Soccer announced the schedule for the 2026 Leagues Cup, with MLS and Liga MX clubs going head to head for the trophy.
Tournament schedule
Phase One of the tournament will take place from August 4-13. The teams will be split into two tables, one for MLS and one for Liga MX. Each team will play three matches against teams from the other league, and the four teams from each league with the most points at the end of Phase One will advance to the quarterfinals.
While typically all matches have been hosted by MLS sides in past editions, the 2026 tournament will see four Phase One matches played in Mexico: Toluca will host two games, while Tigres and Club América will each host one.
There are no ties in Leagues Cup. Teams are awarded three points for a win in regulation, and zero for a loss. Should the match be tied after regulation, both teams will earn one point. The match will then go to a penalty kick shootout, and the shootout winner will be awarded an additional point for a total of two points.

Phase One breakdown
Each team in Phase One is organized by region, and matchups are set by the "Leagues Cup Ranking". MLS clubs are ranked based on their final place in the 2025 Supporters' Shield standings, while Liga MX teams are ranked by their total performance over the 2025 Apertura and Clausura standings.
Teams are divided into Eastern and Western regions. Each region includes eight teams divided into three tiers: Tier 1 (ranks 1-3), Tier 2 (ranks 4-6) and Tier 3 (ranks 7-9).
Nashville SC have been drawn into the Eastern 2 region as a Tier 2 side, based on their 11th-place finish in the 2025 Supporters' Shield standings.
