NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville SC continue to explore options for a new Designated Player striker, and Aké Loba has resurfaced as a target for Nashville, as first reported by Record‘s Ignacio Suarez and independently confirmed by Broadway Sports.

As reported by Broadway Sports back in December 2019, Loba has long been a priority target for the Boys in Gold. Nashville have had him on their radar since his time with Universidad San Martin in Peru, and were in advanced talks to sign him ahead of their debut MLS season before Monterrey outbid them.
Nashville are in the market for a new DP striker, and have recently been linked to Toluca’s Michael Estrada. Both players remain viable options, but whether they sign either or focus their efforts elsewhere, Nashville will look to sign a new attacker in the upcoming window.
Broadway Sports can confirm that Nashville previously bid in the range of $5-7 million for Loba. Monterrey ended up acquiring him for close to $9 million, and while Loba hasn’t been a clear success for Rayados, it’s likely they’ll want to recoup a decent amount of their investment.
Loba, 23, has struggled to secure regular minutes at Monterrey. He’s been in and out of the lineup over his season and a half with Rayados, scoring just seven goals in 27 appearances.
