NASHVILLE, TN - Nashville SC defender Taylor Washington is set to miss eight to twelve weeks with a knee injury, head coach BJ Callaghan told media on Tuesday afternoon.
The defender suffered a knee injury in the first half of a 1-0 US Open Cup win over Chattanooga Red Wolves, his first minutes of the 2025 season.
"We expect Taylor to be somewhere in an eight-to-twelve week recovery process," said Callaghan. "Obviously, the [Tate Schmitt] signing is linked to Taylor being out. That's no surprise."
Washington, signed ahead of the 2018 USL season, is the sole remaining member of Nashville's USL squad to still play for the club. He's made 85 appearances for the club in MLS and MLS Cup Playoffs, and has been an ever-present in the match day squad. Sources have confirmed that the injury was to his MCL.
A 12-week recovery would have Washington back in early August, with between eight and nine regular season matches left to play. Washington is out of contract at the end of the 2025 season.
