NASHVILLE, TN – Defender Jalil Anibaba announced his retirement from professional soccer after a 12 year career in Major League Soccer. The versatile defender was a member of Nashville SC’s inaugural roster, playing 24 matches in his two seasons with the club, as well as spells with Chicago Fire, Seattle Sounders, Sporting Kansas City, Houston Dynamo, New England Revolution, and most recently Columbus Crew.

Simultaneously with his retirement, Nashville SC announced that Anibaba will join as their first-ever club ambassador. As part of his role, Anibaba will take part in Nashville’s community outreach, something which he has been passionate about throughout his career, including during his time in Nashville. Anibaba is a co-founder of Black Players for Change, where he serves on the board.
In addition to his work in the community, Anibaba will work as the color commentator for Nashville’s ratio broadcast (the details of which have yet to be announced), as well as serving in a creative content role on the club’s social channels and the new MLS Season Pass on Apple TV+.
