Nashville SC are in the midst of a three-game week, travelling to Foxborough to take on the New England Revolution.
To get the latest on the Revs, we chatted with Jake Catanese of The Blazing Musket.
The Blazing Musket is the home for ALL your New England Soccer Coverage!
Ben Wright (SixOneFive Soccer): I don't think anyone expected the Revs to be in second in the table and with wins from every home match this season. What's gone so right? Do you think this is sustainable for a full season?
Jake Catanese (The Blazing Musket): What's gone so right is the expected vibes (xVibes) are immaculate and the Revs keep finding ways to win games.
Multiple late winners and come-from-behind victories already this year to go along with a seemingly endless supply of confidence and players wanting to run through a brick wall for Marko Mitrović.
Carles Gil might have stolen all the headlines of late with three goals in his last three games, and six goal contributions in his last five, but the Revs have been getting goals from all over the place - set pieces, transition, and build-up play. Eleven different goal scorers have tallied for the Revs, so it's not just a case of eliminating Gil's impact to try and shut down the Revs.
As far as how sustainable it is? Well, the second half of the year is going to be a lot tougher schedule-wise. The Revs have played a lot of home games leading into the World Cup break (tomorrow night will be their seventh), and they'll certainly be tested in August and September.
We'll talk more about why the Revs can keep this up down below, but my Blazing Musket compatriot Andy Judd did a deep dive into the metrics, and the numbers do hate New England. His graph about the Revs getting beaten in the big chance category is the one that terrifies me the most.
