United States star Christian Pulisic will not play against Australia, head coach Mauricio Pochettino told FOX Sports before the match.

The winger hasn't trained with the full team all week after exiting their World Cup opener against Paraguay at halftime. The team confirmed he had suffered a calf contusion and was "day-to-day".

"Christian is not available," Pochettino told FOX's Jenny Taft. "Today he was training, and I think the feelings are good. I hope that as soon as possible, he can be ready to be selected again... He wanted to participate today, but it's still so early."

The United States could clinch the top spot in Group D with a win against Australia, and a draw or loss from Türkiye against Paraguay. They'll take on Türkiye in their final match of the group stage next Thursday, June 25, in Los Angeles.
