On Tuesday, Huntsville City FC announced their roster decisions heading into the 2027 MLS NEXT Pro season. The club qualified for the playoffs for the second consecutive season, but failed to advance beyond the first round.
Following the season, Huntsville have made sweeping changes to their squad.
Midfielder Landry Walker and defenders Leo Christiano and Maikel Caicedo are the only players who remain under contract. Walker made three appearances after joining from San Antonio FC late in the season. Christiano was a fixture in the squad, logging three goals and an assist in 24 appearances, while Caicedo played in 10 matches after signing in the summer from Ecuador's top flight.
Goalkeeper Will Mackay, signed to a hybrid deal with Nashville SC, will join the first team in 2027. The 18-year-old kept a club-record six clean sheets in 22 matches, and will look to work into the first-team picture after Joe Willis retires following the 2026 season.
Similarly, 18-year-old striker Zidane Yáñez, who scored nine goals in 13 appearances, will join Nashville after signing a homegrown deal in the summer.
Patrick Amarh, Alioune Ka, Maximus Ekk, Jayvin van Deventer, Nigel Prince, Angel Iniguez, Klaus Sullivan, Kessy Coulibaly, Nick Pariano, Zach Barrett, Julian Gaines and Fabian Reynolds will all leave the club. Abdel Talabi, Light Eke, and Matteo Zambrano departed during the season. Additionally, loan agreements for Malachi Molina, Moisés Véliz, and Aidan Jarvis have expired.
Midfielder Misei Yoshizawa was not listed in Huntsville's roster decisions, leaving the door open for a potential return. The 23-year-old logged two goals and four assists in 16 appearances.
