ATLANTA, GA – On Sunday, Spain and Cabo Verde went head-to-head in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup.

Spain were one of the heavy favorites at the tournament, ranked second in FIFA's World Rankings heading into the tournament. Meanwhile, Cabo Verde and their population of 500,000 are the second-smallest nation by land area to qualify for a World Cup, and the third-smallest by population.

In their World Cup debut, Cabo Verde held Spain to a 0-0 draw. 40-year-old goalkeeper Vozinha stood on his head, making seven saves to preserve a hard-fought clean sheet. The result was a meteoric rise in popularity for the 'keeper, going from 50,000 followers on Instagram to 11.8 million.

Our intrepid photographer Christina Moore was on the ground at Mercedes-Benz Stadium to capture all the action at the match.
