The 2026 season for Huntsville City FC was successful, with the club reaching the postseason for the second consecutive year. Again, however, it ended without a single victory in the postseason.
Throughout its young history, Huntsville has been known to drastically overhaul its roster year-to-year. Only three players have hit the 50 appearance mark for the club, and there's no reason to suspect that trend won't continue. So with the offseason just underway in North Alabama, let's make some educated guesses on which players are likely to stick around for 2027.
The advent of the Sprint Season in 2027 will certainly have impacts on the winter roster construction, but – as with MLS – there are a lot of variables still up in the air. The situation is very fluid.
For the purpose of this exercise, players will be organized into three tiers; those likely to stay, those whose futures remain unclear, and those likely to leave. We'll go into the weeds a bit on some of the more notable players in each.
Likely to stay

• Gabriel Alonso (left back, 19)
• Moises Véliz (center midfielder, 22)
• Leo Christiano (center back/left back, 19)
• Maikel Caicedo (center back, 21)
• Landry Walker (center midfielder, 17) †
• Zidane Yañez (forward, 18) *
• Nick Pariano (center midfielder, 23)
• Zach Barrett (center back, 25)
• Matteo Zambrano (attacking midfielder, 18) ‡
* Signed homegrown contract
† Signed hybrid deal with Huntsville/Nashville
‡ Nashville SC acquired homegrown rights
A lot of this group speaks for itself. It's comprised of Huntsville's most important players, and others who arrived too recently to make judgments on.
