NASHVILLE, TN – Nashville SC dropped their first match of the 2026 Leagues Cup 1-0 at Geodis Park, with Club León finding a late winner through Daniel Arcila to put Nashville on the verge of elimination from the competition.

Standout performers
- Bryan Acosta was impressive in his 60-minute shift. The Honduran international had plenty of energy on both sides of the ball, covering ground defensively ad setting the tempo with the ball.
- Thomas Williams had more of a mixed bag, but on the whole looked comfortable. His ability to carry the ball through pressure was Maxwell Woledzi-esque, and contributed to many of Nashville's best sequences in possession. Switched off at an unfortunate time for the winner.
- Elias Saad got better and better as the match wore on. Nominally playing on the left wing, he popped up all over the pitch and began to take over the game in the second half. Should have had at least two assists on the night.
Lineup notes
Head coach BJ Callaghan made wholesale changes – 10, to be exact – and fielded the youngest starting lineup in Nashville SC history. Goalkeeper Xavier Valdez, midfielder Charles-Émile Brunet, and winger Elias Saad made their first starts for Nashville, with Hany Mukhtar and Cristian Espinoza missing out through injury.
What it means
Without at least a point from their opener, it's hard to envision a scenario in which Nashville advance from the group. There are plenty of discussions to be had on if this tournament is worth prioritizing, especially with the team in Supporters' Shield position, but the simple fact is that the heavy squad rotation clearly shows where this team's priorities lie.
