NASHVILLE, TN – In their final home match of the 2026 regular season, Nashville put in one of the most insane and unforgettable performances you'll ever see. The Boys In Gold came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in the dying minutes of the match, setting the record for most home wins in a single MLS season (15) and tying the all-time single-season points record of 74.

After the match, Nashville officially celebrated the Supporters' Shield in front of the home fans in an unforgettable milestone moment for the club.

Key moments

  • 15' | After an unreal amount of pressure from Red Bulls to start the game, Nashville begin to find some success in possession. A great ball over the top from Matt Corcoran sends Hany Mukhtar through on goal. He goes down looking for contact on the edge of the box when a square ball for Elias Saad would've played him through on goal.
  • 17' | Saad concedes a penalty with an incredibly late sliding challenge on Cade Cowell. However, Brian Schwake steps up with a fantastic save to deny Red Bull and keep his MLS record-tying 16th clean sheet in play.
  • 27' | Patrick Yazbek comes inches away from the opener, curling a rocket just past the far post.
  • 34' | Red Bulls open the scoring with a fantastic bit of play. Adri Mehmeti finds fellow United States international Julian Hall with an exceptional slipped pass, putting him clean through on goal for an easy finish.
  • 40' | The visitors double the lead through substitute Rafael Mosquera, scoring with his first touch of the game after a pinpoint pass from Cowell.
  • 45' | Nashville pull one back just before halftime, with a fantastic run and cross from Andy Nájar deflecting off of Tim Parker for an own goal.
  • 45+2' | Sam Surridge attempts his own "Hand of God" moment, slapping a set piece from Espinoza off the post and out.
  • 45+8' | Another nearly moment for Surridge, who heads a cross from Nájar back across the goal for Ethan Horvath to save.
  • 50' | Mukhtar has the ball in the net, but the goal is pulled back for offside.
  • 52' | Another chance from Mukhtar, forcing Horvath into a fingertip save with a looping header. Seconds later, Reed Baker-Whiting rattles the bar.
  • 54' | ANOTHER disallowed goal for Nashville. Surridge makes a great run and receives a slip pass from Saad, but the ref calls him offside by a step. A much tighter call than the first.
  • 63' | An absolutely unreal save from Schwake, somehow getting the slightest touch to a one-on-one shot from Hall, tipping it off the bar and out.
  • 67' | A decent counter from Nashville ends at the feet of Espinoza, who can't get much on a left-footed effort and plays it straight down the middle of the goal.
  • 69' | Yet again painfully close from Nashville. Substitute Bryan Acosta's shot takes a deflection, and Maxwell Woledzi can only turn the rebound off the bar.
  • 73' | One of the most insane sequences from Nashville somehow doesn't go in. Baker-Whiting heel-flicks a pass to Saad, who somehow manages to cross while falling down. Surridge heads back across the ball for Mukhtar, who has his shot blocked. Somewhere in there, Espinoza hits the bar. Nashville have been utterly dominant since the break, but can't get the bit of luck they need to get a goal.
  • 78' | A third disallowed goal from Nashville! Espinoza gets in behind and forces an own goal from Julián Bázan, but the flag goes up. Unbelievable. Actually, never mind! The goal stands.
  • 84' | Seriously guys, I can't keep up. Acosta pings a gorgeous diagonal to Nájar, who drives a low cross to Surridge. His shot is somehow saved off the line by Horvath.
  • 88' | Inches over the bar from Surridge after a great cross from Mukhtar.
  • 90' | Nájar gets in behind again and has both Surridge and Mukhtar open in the center, but his cross is put behind for a corner at the last second.
  • 90+1' | SURRIDGE TO THE RESCUE! The striker heads home the ensuing corner to put Nashville ahead at the last minute!
  • 90+6' | Almost a second from Surridge! He cuts inside and rips a low drive towards the far post, but Horvath tips it wide.

Standout performers

  • Hany Mukhtar continued to set the tone for the 'Yotes. The captain came inches away from scoring several times, and was a driving force in the comeback.
  • Down the left flank, Reed Baker-Whiting had arguably his best showing in a Nashville shirt, consistently driving the ball forward and creating danger in the final third.
  • As he did against Philadelphia, Bryan Acosta changed the game off the bench. His ability to hit quick diagonals into space was crucial to Nashville bypassing the Red Bulls' press and opened the game up.
  • Sam Surridge stepped up in a crucial moment to score one of the biggest goals he's had for Nashville. Another stellar season with 21 goals in all competitions.
  • And finally, Brian Schwake... a penalty saved, and a decisive save on Julian Hall from open play. Yet another incredible showing from the Goalkeeper of the Year favorite.

Head coach BJ Callaghan made another five changes to his squad, returning to a much more first-choice squad
