On Thursday, Huntsville City FC announced the acquisition of defender Abdel Talabi on loan from USL Championship side Monterrey Bay FC. Talabi joins on a short-term loan, with an option to extend the loan through the end of the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season.
Talabi, 24, was selected 30th overall in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft by Inter Miami after playing five seasons with the Bryant University Bulldogs. Talabi made 80 appearances (78 starts) in five seasons at the collegiate level, logging six goals and four assists.
Talabi came through the New England Revolution academy, able to play across the backline. He's made two appearances for Monterrey Bay this season, starting at right back in a 1-0 loss to Oakland Roots and coming off the bench as a center back against Las Vegas Lights. He's been an unused substitute for Monterrey's last four matches.
