NASHVILLE, TN – On Monday, Nashville SC announced the acquisition of forward Zidane Yañez from New York City FC. The 18-year-old has been on loan with Huntsville City FC since May, and was acquired for $50,000 in 2027 General Allocation Money. The fee could increase to $275,000 if Yañez meets certain performance-based incentives.
“Zidane is an exciting young attacking prospect, and his combination of creativity and industry makes him a constant goal threat,” said Nashville SC President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Mike Jacobs in the club's release. “We are happy to officially add him as a member of our club.”
Yañez started his career in the New York Red Bulls academy, making the switch to NYCFC in 2021. He signed a homegrown contract with NYCFC at 15 years old, and made six appearances for NYCFC II in MLS NEXT Pro. He joined Huntsville on loan in May.
At the international level, Yañez has represented youth national teams of both the United States and Puerto Rico. Most recently, he's scored nine goals in 22 appearances for Chile's youth sides, including the U17 World Cup and U17 South American Championship.
Yañez is signed to a homegrown contract through December 31, 2028, with an option for 2029.
