NASHVILLE, TN – On Thursday, Major League Soccer released its roster profiles for all 30 clubs. Included in that information was Nashville SC announced that forward Hany Mukhtar has had his contract option triggered, keeping him in Nashville through 2027. Mukhtar's guaranteed contract was previously set to expire at the end of 2026.

Mukhtar, 31, joined Nashville ahead of their 2020 debut season as the first Designated Player in club history. In his six seasons with Nashville, the Berlin, Germany, native has been the most impactful player in club history, logging a total of 105 goals and 74 assists in 243 appearances. He is Nashville's all-time leader in goals (105), assists (74), appearances (243), starts (223), and minutes (22,242).

Mukhtar has been among the most productive players in MLS history since his debut, leading the league in regular-season goals (92) and goal contributions (159) since 2020.

In 2025, Mukhtar rediscovered his best form, logging 16 goals and 12 assists in MLS and forming an elite partnership with forward Sam Surridge, with the duo combining for 40 goals in MLS play. Through 34 appearances so far in 2026, Mukhtar has logged 11 goals and seven assists, behind only Cristian Espinoza's 19 goal contributions.

Extending one of the truly elite players in MLS history and the focal point of the club is a no-brainer, with Mukhtar still performing at a high level and playing a crucial leadership role for the club. With his short-term future settled, expect Nashville and Mukhtar to look to negotiate a new deal within the next few months.
