San Diego FC signs World Cup veteran midfielder Aníbal Godoy to a one-year contract through the end of the 2025 MLS season with Club options for 2026 and 2027.
After his option was declined following the 2024 season, Nashville were open to bringing the Panama international back on a reduced budget charge. However, that was not ultimately in the cards, with Godoy heading to the West Coast on a one-year deal with a further option for 2026.
One of the first signings made by Nashville ahead of their 2020 expansion season, Godoy proved to be worth every penny of the $650,000 in allocation money Nashville sent to San Jose to acquire him. During his tenure in Music City, Godoy was an ever-present in the lineup. In total he made 129 appearances in all competitions, 104 of which were starts. In total, Godoy scored three goals and provided 13 assists, wearing the captain’s armband four times.

A crucial piece of Nashville’s identity on and off the pitch, Godoy helped shape the trajectory of Nashville in MLS, all while continuing to play at a high level for Panama, where his 148 caps are second all-time. Expect more of the same from him in San Diego.
