Along with Nashville SC and the Vancouver Whitecaps, Inter Miami are one of the elite teams in MLS. Through 24 matches, they've lost just four times. Their 1.83 points per game is the third-best in MLS, and World Cup winner Lionel Messi leads MLS with a ridiculous 31 goal contributions in just 21 matches.
Miami head into this match both very much needing three points, while also in the midst of a tough run of form. They're currently nine points behind Nashville in the race for the top spot in the East. This is the definition of a six-pointer for them. In their last few matches, though, they've struggled: draws to Philadelphia, Chicago, and Atlanta, as well as a dismal 2-1 loss to Toronto at home.
Miami opened Nu Stadium in April, and while the $1.3 billion project at Miami Freedom Park is among the most state-of-the-art stadiums in world football, their record hasn't been great at home; in 11 matches, they've won four, drawn five, and lost twice, 17th in MLS with 1.55 points per game at home this year.

At this point, Nashville and Miami are incredibly familiar with each other. There aren't likely to be any tactical surprises. Tomorrow's match will be the 17th time these two sides have played since the 2023 season, and both clubs have very set tactical approaches.
The biggest question for Miami comes at the back. Former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has been forced back from his usual role as a No. 6 into a makeshift backline, echoing the way that Sergio Busquets was shoehorned into defense. With injuries to Micael and Gonzalo Luján, he's been forced into an uncomfortable role as a center back, while fellow center back Fricio Caicedo has been shunted out to the left with left back Sergio Reguilón injured and Noah Allen loaned to the Chicago Fire.
Unsurprisingly, Miami are an exceptional attacking team. Their 2.46 goals per game lead MLS, and if the season ended today, it would go down as the third-best attacking output in league history. Their defense, though, is less stellar, conceding 1.83 goals a game (seventh-worst in MLS). If Nashville can hold them to one or two goals, there's a path to get a result in Miami.

Nashville's six-match unbeaten run in league play ended on Wednesday. The Boys In Gold gave up a 1-0 lead in Toronto, coughing up a 93rd-minute winner to lose their first match since July 25, and keeping the race for the Supporters' Shield open.
Despite recent success against the Herons, Nashville's last win came all the way back in 2021, a lopsided 5-1 victory in Ft. Lauderdale in front of 13,000 fans. Since then, the 'Yotes have drawn twice and lost six times, conceding 18 goals in eight games. After taking down Miami on away goals earlier this season in the Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 32, though, Nashville won't go into the match feeling like underdogs.

Nashville should be at close to full health for Saturday, but they expended a lot of energy in Toronto, with the match surprisingly open from the start. Miami also put a lot into their 1-1 draw in Chicago midweek, probably leveling the playing field, but also making fatigue a real concern for both sides.
While Miami haven't been exceptional at home, Nashville have been great on the road, even after the loss in Toronto. Through 12 road matches, the 'Yotes have averaged 1.58 points per game, the fifth-best away record in the league. Crucially, they've only allowed seven goals away from home. They'll lean on their defense, led by Goalkeeper of the Year candidate Brian Schwake, to earn an important result against one of the MLS Cup favorites.
